About EFMSV
The International Conference on Environment, Forced Migration and Social Vulnerability (EFMSV) will focus on the linkages between environmental change, migration and factors of social vulnerability.
The conference will strive to distil the current state of scientific research and debate with the perspective of providing a future outlook and policy-relevant recommendations.
It was conceived to allow in-depth discussions of specific topics and themes, in particular the following:
- Environmental drivers of migration;
- Geographical distribution and trends in vulnerability and migration;
- Assessment of migratory fluxes due to environmental drivers;
- Migration as a coping strategy in the face of vulnerability;
- Temporary and permanent migration due to environmental drivers; and
- Recognition of and assistance to environmentally displaced persons.
The EFMSV-Conference's goal is to bring together experts of multiple disciplines, dealing with the pressing issues of environmental change, migration and social vulnerability, in order to share knowledge, identify gaps and seek solutions.
In this regard the international conference will feature case studies, scenarios, and an analysis of the major outcomes of the two year long project:
The conference will be held at the following venues:
- UN Campus "Langer Eugen" in Bonn, Germany
- World Conference Center Bonn (former Water Works and Pump House) in Bonn, Germany.
- Posttower in Bonn, Germany.
