Climate Change Adaptation Is Part of the 2008 International Disaster and Risk Conference

The International Disaster and Risk Conference welcomes participants to its 2008 event to be held in Davos, Switzerland. The IDRC will take place 25-29 August 2008.
The theme of this year’s conference will follow the motto ‘Public-private partnership – Key for integral risk management and climate change adaptation’ with various sessions that focus on topics such as the coordination of climate change mitigation and adaptation, disaster risk reduction, integrated risk management procedures and identified vulnerabilities in case-studies. Participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops, excursions, lectures and exhibitions.
It is the goal of the IDRC Davos 2008 to form stronger relationships between disaster and risk management sectors in order to create an integrated global discussion and thout process about disaster and risk management. The conference will aim to build special working groups that will work to achieve this goal within certain topics.

  • Preliminary Findings of EACH-FOR Research Published Now!
    The researchers of EACH-FOR are happy to present preliminary findings of 19 case studies. The case studies revealed linkages between environmental degradation and migration. All in all 22 case studies in nine regions have been conducted, where researchers assessed the causes of (forced) migration with a special focus on environmental degradation. This report can be considered a milestone of their work.

  • New European Parliament Declaration on Climate Migrations
    A declaration was adopted at the Conference on Climate Migrations organised in the European Parliament, Brussels, on June 11th 2008 by the Greens/EFA group. It gathers reports, analysis and possibilities of actions identified during the conference.
