26th International Population Conference Covers Also Migration Topics

The International Union for the Scientific Study in Population (IUSSP) is now accepting submissions for papers and posters for its 26th International Population Conference to take place from 27 September to 2 October 2009. The IUSSP conference focuses, among other topics related to population, on International Migration and Urbanization, also in the environmental context, as well as on Gender, Vulnerability and Human Rights.
IUSSP conference is open to all interested in population research. A complete list of topics and their sessions can be found at http://www.iussp.org/marrakech2009/call.php.
The 2009 IUSSP conference will be held in Marrakech, Morocco, and will be the first International Population Conference to be held in Africa. Sessions will be conducted bilingually in French and English, with some sessions being held in Arabic.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 15 September 2008. Submissions can be made in French or English. Information about how to submit papers can be found here.

  • Preliminary Findings of EACH-FOR Research Published Now!
    The researchers of EACH-FOR are happy to present preliminary findings of 19 case studies. The case studies revealed linkages between environmental degradation and migration. All in all 22 case studies in nine regions have been conducted, where researchers assessed the causes of (forced) migration with a special focus on environmental degradation. This report can be considered a milestone of their work.

  • New European Parliament Declaration on Climate Migrations
    A declaration was adopted at the Conference on Climate Migrations organised in the European Parliament, Brussels, on June 11th 2008 by the Greens/EFA group. It gathers reports, analysis and possibilities of actions identified during the conference.
